We are working our way through Sudan... slowly but surely. We've had a couple of long days of riding, but now we're only 375km from the border with Ethiopia. The weather has been HOT... we're guessing up to about 48 degrees C (118 degrees F) during the hottest part of the day. Add motorcycle gear on top of that, and you can imagine what it feels like. At 100km/h it's not bad, but slowing down for sections of gravel (or worse, soft sand) can be killer. Despite all that, it's a heck of a lot of fun. We've had some long days, but it feels good to be making progress southwards.
No time to process photos now, so I'll post the ones from the ferry, and the others will come later.

1. Y'all rode the motorcycles across a _rope_ onto the barge? *gulp*!
2. The upstairs deck looks like the top of the bus we rode on -- times 5-ish.

1. No no no... not onto the barge. While already on the barge, I had to push the rope down to the deck of the barge (about 4 inches) with my foot as I rode over it with my motorcycle. The rope was pretty tight though, so made me nervous. |
